The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is coming soon. Are you ready?
What is the NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme, or NDIS, is a new way for Australians with disability to take greater control of their lives. Participants in the scheme will receive a funding allocation for the reasonable and necessary supports they need to live comfortably. Individualised plans ensure participants are receive funding for what they need, and not just what has previously been on offer.
The scheme provides participants with greater choice and control over how, when and where their supports are provided. Individuals will also enjoy the security of knowing they will receive the support they need throughout their lifetime. This is truly a remarkable innovation for Australian residents that will offer great improvement for thousands of people who in many cases have not previously had access to the quality services and supports they require.
When is the NDIS starting?
It already has! The NDIS is now rolled out in almost all of the state.
The remaining Queensland rollout plan is:
The regions of Moreton Bay; Strathpine; Caboolture; Sunshine Coast; Gympie
